LivaNova-VNS Therapy SenTiva®
- The device is an implantable pulse generator of the VNS Therapy™ system and is used as an adjunct therapy in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy who are not adequately controlled with medication.
- The SenTiva model supports “AutoStim” mode — in this mode, the device can detect rapid increases in heart rate, which may be associated with epileptic seizures, and can automatically deliver additional stimulation.
- The device provides extensive options for individualized therapy programming — for example, “Day/Night Programming” allows different stimulation settings for different time periods within a 24-hour cycle.
- It also includes a “Scheduled Programming” function: the physician can pre-program settings so that the system automatically adjusts stimulation levels according to therapeutic goals.
- Implantation is a relatively simple procedure — performed through a small surgical incision in the neck and chest area, without the need for brain surgery.
